Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park

GPS coordinates: N 45-degrees  44.757;  W 084-degrees 40.344

As the Straits of Mackinac's first industrial complex, this site provided lumber for the settlement of Mackinac Island in the 1790s. Today, we demonstrate both hand-saw techniques and the power of a water-driven sawmill embedded in scenic Mill Creek.

Within this 625-acre park, you can also interact with our staff naturalist or stroll along scenic trails that wind for 3.5 miles through three kinds of forest. Watch for signs of wildlife including beaver dams along the western end of the creek.

New this year is the Adventure Tour and children's discovery stations. Climb the Nature Trail Climbing Wall. Soar like an eagle down the Eagle’s Flight Zip Line. Walk through the treetops on the Forest Canopy Bridge. Adventure to the top of the five-story Treetop Discovery Tower. The youngest adventurers can explore the Water Power Station and Forest Friends Children’s Play Area.

An interpretive center and museum store complete your Mill Creek experience.

Pets are welcome.
